  • God worked for 6 days in creating the heavens and the earth; and everything that is in them, inanimate and animate, including mankind. At the end of each work day, God pronounced that it was good, and at the end of the 6th day God said that it was very good (genesis 1:31). But on the 7th day, God rested from all the works that he had made, not that he was tired, for God never faints or is weary (isaiah 40:28). God didn't need to rest because he spoke almost everything into existence, except on the 6th day when he made Adam and Eve with his own hands and breathed on them the breath of life. On the 7th day God created the Sabbath, rested from creating, sanctified it, and celebrated it as a memorial of Creation (genesis 2:2,3). Even the angelic host (the morning stars) and the sons of God shouted for joy at this celebration (job 38:7). Adam and Eve were shown by God how to celebrate the Sabbath and to keep it holy, so that they would remember to do the same on the following Sabbath. This is the Sabbath that God told mankind to remember and keep holy (exodus 20:8-11). In order for us not to forget why the Sabbath should be kept, God placed his Seal on the 4th commandment, which is also a mark between Him and his people (Ezekiel 20:12). Those who believe that God created the heavens and earth and everything in them will do as the creator had done. They will work and finish everything that needed to be done on the first 6 days of the week and rest on the 7th to celebrate and worship the Creator. Some call the Sabbath the Jewish Sabbath, but they are wrong about the holy day's ownership. It is called the Lord's Sabbath because it belongs to God. It is the day to commemorate his creative powers and Lordship. The Sabbath's origin is at Creation week. Secondly, the Israelites had knowledge of its observance before God wrote the law on the 2 tablets of stone at Mt. Sinai (exodus 16:23). Thirdly, the Jewish people came out of the southern kingdom called Judah and the Assyrians called them Jews. And lastly, Jesus told the Jews of his time that the Sabbath was made for man, pointing them back to creation week (mark 2:22). #sabbath #creation #7thday #lordsday #saturday

  • "No man’s pastoral ministry will be successful in God’s sight who does not give preaching its proper place." — Dr. John MacArthur
•
As he neared the end of his life, the veteran pastor Paul addressed this exhortation to his young prote ́ge ́ Timothy:
I solemnly charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by His appearing and His kingdom: preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires; and will turn away their ears from the truth, and will turn aside to myths (2 Tim. 4:1–4).
•
In those words, which may be the last Timothy ever received from his beloved mentor, Paul set forth the pastor’s highest priority. While the duties of the pastorate are many and varied, as the other chapters in this section on ‘‘Pastoral Perspectives’’ indicate, none is more important than preaching. Charles Jefferson perceptively noted:
•
Pastoral work is not simply making social calls; pastoral work is also preaching. The minister does not cease to be a pastor when he goes into the pulpit; he then takes up one of the minister’s most exacting and serious tasks. We sometimes hear it said of a minister: ‘‘He is a good pastor, but he cannot preach.’’ The sentence is self-contradictory. No man can be a good pastor who cannot preach, any more than a man can be a good shepherd and still fail to feed his flock. A part of shepherding is feeding, and an indispensable part. Some of the finest and most effective of all a minister’s pastoral work is done in his sermon. In a sermon he can warn, protect, guide, heal, rescue, and nourish. The shepherd in him comes to lofty stature in the pulpit. . . . A shepherd who is skilled in his work never fails to feed his flock.

  • Trinitarian Worship Is Jesus Centered
By Josh Buice
•
It should go without saying that Christian worship should be centered on Christ, but sadly many worship services are centered on the additives—and sometimes such additives are carnal attempts to please carnal people who care very little about the Jesus of holy Scripture.
•
Every church has a specific liturgy that it follows—from a more biblical background to a more contemporary and pragmatic order—every church follows a specific structure. In many cases, the worship service is centered around a pragmatic arrangement in order to guide the emotions of people. In such cases, the worship becomes man centered rather than Jesus centered. When was the last time you examined the worship service of your church and asked honest questions about why it’s ordered in that specific way? Is truth driving the order of your service or is emotion or other man centered pragmatic goals?
•
The Jesus centered worship service will have a goal of pointing people to their hope in Jesus from the opening Scripture reading and call to worship to the benediction. The Jesus centered worship service is not a rejection of Trinitarian worship. In fact, all Christian worship is Trinitarian, but true Trinitarian worship puts a priority on Jesus who is the true worship leader, the Prophet greater than Moses, the Priest greater than Melchizedek, and the King greater than David. •
The Father Emphasizes the Centrality of Jesus
Before the world was created, the decision was made among the Trinity to send Jesus into his own creation as the second Adam—the Messiah—the Christ of God. According to Scripture, Jesus was sent by the Father (Matt. 10:40; John 5:24, 30, 37; John 12:49). One of the greatest verses in the Bible teaches this very truth. In John 3:16, it says, “For God so love the world that he gave his only Son…” •
The Father places emphasis on the Son as one who provides eternal life to fallen sinners. This exclusive hope grounded in Jesus necessitates the centrality of Jesus as the focus of our Christian worship...

  • “Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering;(for he is faithful that promised;) and let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works; not for saking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as we see the day approaching.” Heb.10:22-25

  • Self-care sunday. Idk if that's even a thing, but I make it a point to take care of myself everyday, especially on Sundays. Sunday is the Lord's😇 day of rest💚 So, let's sit back and enjoy God's individual plan for each one of us.✝️⛪

  • Now to Him who is able to do infinitely more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us,
to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen. Ephesians 3:20

  • Many Dioceses are suspending Masses due to the coronavirus.

The Third Commandment explicitly forbids servile work on Sundays. And the Church further commands that all Sundays — and all other Holy Days of Obligation — are mandatory days of Mass attendance. Missing Mass on one of these days without a grave reason or without dispensation — illness, inability to reasonably obtain transportation, et cetera — is therefore a mortal sin.

However, bishops may dispense people from the obligation of attending the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass for a legitimate reason (e.g. dangerous storms, epidemics of illness, etc). When this occurs, the Church dispenses souls from the precept of assisting at Mass. However, the obligation to sanctify Sundays and render homage to God is a divine precept and that can not be abrogated.

So for instance, if a public health crisis in the form of an epidemic is occurring and a bishop chooses to issue a decree to dispense anyone over the age of 50 from attending Holy Mass over a two week period, those who are dispensed do not sin by failing to attend Mass on Sundays and Holy Days within the two week period. But if they neglect to pray on Sunday they sin, just like if they perform servile works on Sundays they sin.

Dispensations also only apply to those that they are issued to. For instance, a bishop may dispense people over a certain age from Mass. Only those over that age are dispensed. Those under that age are still obligated to attend Holy Mass.

  • "The law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul; the decrees of the Lord are sure, making wise the simple; the precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the Lord is clear, enlightening the eyes; the fear of the Lord is pure, enduring forever; the ordinances of the Lord are true and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, even much fine gold; sweeter also than honey, and drippings of the honeycomb." From Psalm 19.
