I’ve fallen into the groove, and listening to soul mending music. Dancing in the rainbows my sun-catchers cast into my living room. Living in the moment and drinking tea. 
Today’s drink is a spicy turmeric blend, balanced with sweet local honey and a drop of tangerine oil.

  • Today”s #barefootrun was another run up #KowloonPeak. As I started running up the mountain, it became quickly clear that it would be less of #barefootrunning and more of an obstacle course. Indeed, over the course of last night, severe thunderstorms caused several landslides on the #Feingoshan road. Not even typhoon Mongkhut managed to wreak this kind of damage. Beyond that passing over the obstacles was feasible, even #barefoot, although the wet mud can make it slippery. #HongKong #barefoot #barefooting #barefooter #barefooted #barefootrunner #barefootlife #barefootlifestyle #barefoothk #barefootasia #instagood

  • Wine Wednesday was postponed to Thirsty Thursday. At the time, this seemed like a superb idea. This morning however, and 2 bottles of wine down, I’m not sure it was my finest moment... that said, I did run, if you can call it that, and did indulge in some slight strength training, though I’m pretty certain - and I’m no Doctor - that the effort applied this morning is unlikely to of improved my physiology in any way what so ever. Ho hum, we live and learn. It’s Friday though, so that’s good. Over and out!

  • It was nice and hot on this morning’s walk! You wouldn’t believe how dark my soles were afterward! *See my ko-fi account for an incredible close up shot I posted (link in bio). Next week it will be 100 degrees Fahrenheit here. Summer is wasting no time getting here. I will have to wake up earlier and walk before the sun gets me 🌞 Wow! ⁣⁣⁣

When I was about to complete 30 mins sitting still in squat I thought about this poem of Charles Bukowski.⁣
⁣
I decided to go ahead with the 60 mins aim with mild pain sensations in my ankles and thought it will pass.⁣
⁣
But within few minutes I realised that my knees are pressing my ribs so hard that breathing had become very challenging.⁣
⁣
I was about to give up as I already had surpassed my initial goal of squatting 30 minutes but then I saw my neighbour passing by and I filled with a sense of not giving up,at least in front of him.⁣
⁣
Yeah it was shear ego which allowed me to pass through a certain nausea and numbness in my pelvic region.How weird it is that we are always told EGO IS THE ENEMY but that moment it worked in my favour.⁣
⁣
Moving on .....Around the mark of 45 minutes pain and discomfort utterly vanished instead I started appreciating my body’s abilities to sustain such hardship and boredom of sitting in a same posture for so long.⁣
⁣
But this wasn’t the end because at 53rd minute I had shooting pain waves from all over my body and I couldn’t understand why suddenly my body is acting against my goal though moment ago I was absolutely fine.⁣
⁣
Few moments of breathing and contemplation....and I heard from somewhere that EVEN THIS WILL PASS.⁣
⁣
A zen phrase which made me aware of my surroundings.Yes I was totally unaware of the beautiful weather,lush green park,singing birds and soothing wind.⁣
⁣
I totally overlooked my blessings when I was so engrossed in achieving a goal(It May sound futile to some but was my dream until I got it).⁣
⁣
So in short I simply set down in squat for an hour in an unknown park in front my house and not just realised one of my dream but found the meaning as well as purpose of stillness,gratitude,grit and above all MOVEMENT.

  • Another gentle jog today. The last mile was better than the first, mainly due to the terrain, and the fact that some pot holes had been filled leaving more debris on the track to screw over the feet. Which got me thinking, and I ask kind of looking at other barefoot runners, in that, when running on trails, I find that I subconsciously tense up in preparation for landing on a rogue stone, though on that last mile, just relaxed the feet and didn’t think about it, and had little to no issues. Is this something the rest of you who barefoot, do? I’d be fascinated to hear. Oh, and the @peterrabbitmovie and @httydragon that have upset @talesofjasper... my son, who returned to Reception today for 2 days a week, asked for the #postrunselfie to include Peter, and I ad-libbed as #toothless was in the car at the time... they are not my personal toys and mascots, seriously!!

Our Coach @aero.abhishek experimented with this idea of sitting in squat for 30 mins but he took it forward and squatted for more than an hour.⁣
⁣
Now the question is why??⁣
⁣
First reason is to actually check if it is possible to hold it that long.⁣
⁣
Second how it challenges our feet and overall body to endure such a long duration.⁣
⁣
And third to assess unwavering focus while the whole body going through pain and numbness.⁣
⁣
So yeah it is possible to hold it for one hour or more.⁣
⁣
It is possible to focus though yes it is painful after an extent.⁣
⁣
But most important is how it impacts our feet and challenges them to adjust as well as adapt to this unexpected scenario.⁣
⁣

  • Giving your 5yr old son the phone to capture a superb running action shot, didn’t turn out quite as expected, however, somewhat interesting to see that we fundamentally have the same running style. I have noted on my website, that my lovely wife is the brains of the operation... no truer said than today. Last week, to mix up the route a bit, wife and son decided to make up a game... piggy back ride between gates, (on at one off at the next and so on), there must be 20 plus on this route, but as I’m a little bigger this game was applied today, but shoulder rides versus piggy backs!! Basically, the lad rode my shoulders 10+ times through the second half of this route, and while at the time I was a bit miffed, on reflection this was an awesome workout. Great shoulder exercise, and I attempted running between gates (with him on the shoulders - he must be c.20Kg), this could be the new thing for us, as it lessened the whinging by 75%, as well as a good strength training exercise. Nailed the strength training when I got home also, so skip, sit up, push up, pull up, kettle bells. 16.6, you will be mine!! Happy moist hump day y’all!!
