  • A full body resistance work-out you can do from home! 
As we know, resistance training is king when it comes to looking good, and offers vitality and longevity of life.
However, with gyms currently closed and restricted access to weights during these challenging times, it’s really important to understand the importance of maintaining resistance training and indeed – how you can still create those quality resistance training sessions at home.
It’s a great idea to incorporate a few of these sessions into your week, otherwise it could be a real struggle to perform when the gyms re-open.

To create balance pick one movement from the following groups;

Squat – Air squat/wall sit/goblet squat
Bend – Glute bridge hold/hip thrust/hamstring walkout 
Push – Push up/chair dips/decline push ups
Lunge – reverse lunge/forward lunge/split squat
Pull – Band row/band pull apart/reverse fly
Core – Plank/side plank/bear crawl

Once you have selected a movement from each, rather than just create more of a metabolic workout with lots of reps, rework your routine to play around with the tempo of reps too.

By tempo I mean the time it takes to perform different contractions of each rep.

For example – One tempo scheme could be = 4121

4 seconds eccentric phase – the lowering portion of the rep
1 sec pause at the bottom of the rep (isometric)
2 seconds concentric phase – The rising portion of the rep
1 second pause at the top of the rep (isometric)

By doing this you will be increasing the time under tension which is needed to create hypertrophy (muscles to grow). Emphasis should always be on performing the movement well, over intensity.

Use this time to work on basics and foundational work – Your body and lifts will hugely benefit from it.

  • About 3 months back, I used to get a lot of time to focus on myself - my health, fitness, skincare, haircare, diet and my overall mental health. Yes, self -love and self-care have always been the first things on my mind. But in these last couple of months, focussing on all of these has been quite a challenge, because ofcourse, these are difficult times but more than that, this period has been just about surviving, literally everything. 
Even then, how could I not keep the promise I made to myself to take my fitness game ahead with every passing day. Yes, I've learnt new exercises, gained more flexibility, lost weight, have become healthier and emerged stronger in this lockdown as well. Yes, it's been tough, challenging but super empowering at the same time. 
Because, something that doesn't kill me, makes me stronger😈😀

  • So I’m feeling a bit deflated today 😭 no not even today. The last couple of weeks I’ve really struggled with my workouts. Both physically and mentally. Finding the motivation, the drive but I’ve also found I’ve had to adapt a lot of the @shreddy workouts because they’re too high impact and my knees can’t cope with it. This has made me feel so deflated because instead of progressing I feel like I’m regressing and it makes me not want to workout :/ I don’t even know where to go from here in all honesty and what’s best but meh.... it sucks!

  • Today I went a bit OTT on exercise as we are having our cheat meal this evening: 30 mins of HIIT and 50 mins of Cardio 💪🏻♥️

Breakfast: Oat note with yoghurt and fruit: 262 cals .
Lunch: tom yum udon noodle soup - 
275 cals 🥦🍤🍜

Dinner:  CHEAT MEAL - Take away - jerk chicken, rice and peas, plaintain, breadfruit 💪🏻♥️☀️ .
Snacks: Apple + peanut butter & 2 Lindt squares of chocolate: 212 cals 🍎

  • Hali sat there and watch her human walk back and worth for 2 miles patiently waiting for a treat. The best thing to do right when you wake up in the morning is to get your cardio in before your workout. Your body will burn more glycogen in the morning awhile staying fasted. .

  • First time on the Elliptical in a loooong time and it was very hard especially since I did 2 sessions of Yoga with Adriene this morning! 🏃‍♀️🧘‍♀️👍 And I didnt die! In fact I'm super stoked and cant wait for tomorrow!!!! 😉  Ok maybe I'm getting a little ahead of myself but I'm going to keep at it so my heart gets strong and my legs can carry me until I'm 100!!! ✌🥰😂

My motivation wasn’t very high to workout today, and it would have been really easy for me to just say I’ll give it a miss today.. but I didn’t, and I’m so glad I got it done! 🙌🏻 Feeling 10x better now & ready for the weekend 🤩 It’s amazing what a bit of exercise can do for your mood 😊💗 Also I think these new @gymsharkwomen leggings made it better - yes this is now the 4th colour I own of these 🤪

What a day! After getting off to a good start with the housework and every intention of working out this morning it all went to pot.⁣

I ended up working the majority of the day on an urgent presentation but the girls were angels.⁣

I finally got to workout at 4pm not having time to eat so a superfood shake to keep me going before getting the girls out for a walk and to feed the ducks.⁣

The main thing that even though the day handed me a massive curveball I still got my workout in and spent some decent time with the kids.⁣
⁣
It's fair to say I don't look this now. I am still in my workout gear and in need of a shower!

Now for a KFC and a nice chilled evening with my big girl and a good sleep!⁣

  • Glute activation is very important in a lower body workout as it strengthens the glutes, also acts as a warm up (as well as a form of exercise you can incorporate for your leg day) so you are ready to kill your leg session & prevent yourself from any injuries! ☺️ • Resistance band is from @b_ndstore in medium. If you don’t have one it’s still okay!  1🍑 x40 - make sure you try to keep your feet on the ground as much as you can to make you feel the burn 🔥
2🍑 x40 - tilt your hips forward and squeeze your glutes at the top  3🍑 x40 each side - (I do 20 on each side, then have a 20 second rest then do the other 20) make sure you keep your back straight!
4🍑 x20 - (x5 in each set x 4) 
You will definitely feel the burn once you’ve completed it 🥵 Good luck my loves! Stay motivated, stay unstoppable but most importantly stay safe! 💕

So many people choose the word "can't" instead of actually saying "won't" because it gives them the relief of responsibility to continue trying to do something that they have not yet been able to do
For example, I hear all the time “I can’t lose weight" or "I can't workout." In extreme instances this may, in fact, be true.  Generally speaking though, one should technically be capable of losing weight/working out. That is not to say that such an endeavor is not without its challenges!  But saying “I can’t lose weight” or "I can't workout" is only adding on extra weight. 
Fear holds us all back from our goals. Fear of failure, fear of being laughed at, fear of what “other” people will think of us. The only way to really fail is to let that fear keep you from trying. The only real failures in the world are those people who have failed to even try. Sadly, laziness is another big cause of “I Can’t.” Some people don’t try because they are willing to let other people do the work for them. They weigh out the effort required against the benefit for themselves and decide to just sit back and wait for someone else to make the effort. “I Can’t” becomes their go-to excuse for everything they don’t want to do.
“I Can’t” leads to settling and settling leads to bitterness. You’ve told yourself you “can’t” so many times even you start to believe it. STOP! Stop telling yourself you “can’t and start telling yourself you will. YOU WILL!

On a more serious note! Motivation is such an interesting thing to me. It come and goes but with things starting to open up it’s making me able to see the light and the end of the tunnel and I’m starting to get after my home workouts again! After my gluten flare up I’m FINALLY getting back to my normal routine!
