We know how debilitating trauma can be and one of the best therapies we found to coincide with speaking to a professional and others is to translate that trauma, that grief into a creative form, be it writing, poetry or art. Allowing those emotions to spill out onto a page enables you to address, rescript, acknowledge your current safety and release some of the trauma a piece at a time.

  • Waking up to her is one of the two most beautiful things I get to experience.

My #generalanxiety disorder has been difficult to manage, this makes it really difficult to get outside and function normally. #anxietyawareness needs to be talked about, because anxiety is invisible it’s often dismissed along with other invisible issues like depression. Anxiety is no less valid just because you may not see the person openly experiencing it, sometimes people internalize their anxiety more than visually showing symptoms.

It’s important if you do experience chronic anxiety every day that you do seek treatment. That maybe medication to help manage chemical balance or therapy to help you learn to manage on your own. What ever helps you manage in a healthy way is a step toward gaining control of your life again.

  • Even before quarantine, 
I missed giving my consent to be touched. 
To be cherished.
I wanted to not sleep alone.
I would roll over on my second-hand mattress and wish someone was there that I cared enough about to reach out and hold when panic got the best of me.

Even before I was forced inside,
I felt profoundly alone. 
Profoundly, as in only being seen in parts and not the whole. 
Wanting to spend even an hour with those I thought loved me,
But something came up. 
Something always comes up,
And I get onto the bus to ride back home,
Trying not to cry in public.

Even before I couldn’t travel,
I gave up on ever seeing you again. 
My texts went unanswered, my jokes missed the mark,
And I remembered the hours I waited for you to wake up that morning. 
Your body unaware how I ached for what only you could give me.
Your soul unaware of the disappointment that I held in my throat.

Even before all this,
I was breaking.
Viruses seem to stop time, 
And, as I move between kitchen and bedroom, 
Pace my streets in search of fresh air and answers,
I can only wait in the storm.
Not in the dark before it all brightens,
But in the rain and the battering of the sky.

  • In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, I would like to introduce you to the girl on the left. She/I suffered from it, as you can see. I wasn't only malnourished, but I battled with not being skinny enough every single day, when clearly I was. I never thought I was good enough. I thought I needed to be skinny to be loved. Even being as skinny as I was, I was still eager to get skinnier. I didnt love myself inside and out. I wasn't educated on nutrition or how to properly workout either. I just did lots of cardio and never ate. I look at the girl on the left and I feel sad for her. She was so mentally messed up that she didnt know how to love herself. She tried to gain love from others, and she thought in order to do that she needed to weigh 2lbs. Now I look at the woman on the right, and I am so in love with her. She loves herself inside and out, shes nourished, shes healthy, she loves the curves that all 3 of her babies have helped form for her body, and her confidence shows. She doesnt need the approval of anyone else. She doesnt think she needs to be 2lbs to be loved. She knows she is greatness. I know I'm a queen, and I have someone who let's me know that everyday as well. You are enough. Dont ever let someone else make you think you're not. Be in love with YOU! And love your body, and show it. Give your body the nutrients it needs so it can be healthy inside and out. Love yourself enough to nourish it. This was hard to share because I was so ashamed of the damage from the first picture. I didn't even know who I was back then, and I didnt even love myself. I wanted the approval of others to love me first. That's not the case. I've come a long way, and yes a lot of counseling came with it, and lots of tears. But love yourself enough to talk to someone, and get the help you need. Your mind is your worst enemy, only you can fight it off and change the way you think. Much love to all you women out there who dont think you're enough, because you truly are. I hope you find the love within yourself that you deserve ❤

  • My coworkers and I often discuss how we are taking care of ourselves and managing our own mental health. This is an ongoing conversation, because it’s important to practice what we preach. If we are giving advice to others regarding work/life balance, maintaining healthy coping skills, and implementing good boundaries but not doing these things in our personal lives it feels very fraudulent. I think it is helpful for those in therapy to be reminded that therapists are also human. Therapists have crappy days, can be tired in session, and may have personal struggles in which to work on in their own time. But my prayer is that therapists do their best to consistently check themselves in order to be the best version of themselves when showing up to the therapy room (or computer screen during quarantine :)). Pray for your therapist, that they may have this strength!

  • If you are seeking balance your life or to change your use of time, the first step is reflection Regarding time magement, the Bible counsels that we need to place our focus on that which is eternal as opposed to the fleeting pleasures of this passing world. Consider what things God deems valuable. Consider what He has called you to specifically. Consider how much of your time you are currently investing in these things. Consider what else is taking your time. Make a list of priorities and responsibilities and ask God to direct you regarding any changes that need to be made. Reflecting on your priorities and use of time is a good practice to engage in regularly. Some find that an intentional annual review of their time management is helpful.When you are living with balance in your life, you are living with peace and harmony every day. Remember that balance is essential for our holistic wellness.

When we want to escape our issues we pick our phone up and start browsing, we do it when we eat, before we sleep..

We see everyone looking perfect, all smiles, fresh clothes, even if we know its fake after hours of browsing we believe unconsciously what we see.. Its just in our nature, because hey nature doesnt lie to us..

The point of this post is to say that the 'negatively' must be experienced.. those feelings dont belong in bottles. If we dont express such feelings the internal noise just gets do loud..

  • What does it feel like to be in a relationship when you suffer from borderline personality disorder?  You suffer from self-image issues, the most difficult thing is to get a hold on your  emotions and behavior and you create a  pattern of unstable relationships. 
You're so scared of being alone that you get into a relationship without thinking through. You have a fear of abandonment but u keep pushing people when they love u. You get outbursts of anger and you almost feel like harming yourself when the other person distances himself.

  • Does this surprise you? Personally, it used to surprise me at the beginning of my practice as a therapist. Now...not at all. It’s a usual scenario when my clients begin to heal and find the strength to take their life into their own hands, that people who are considered friends and family (who are supposed to support them the most), to start sabotaging their efforts. I know how sad it sounds, but sometimes in life, we must accept harsh truths. For example, someone you considered a friend, actually might be a snake 🐍 But that’s ok, because with every transformation, everything changes, everything shifts for a better future. So, its time to leave anyone who poisons you and find other people who are thrilled, amazed, inspired by your new self! Continue to heal! All the way! 💪💜

  • life is one helluva emotional roller coaster, and i’m making my peace with that. yesterday was a tough day, a sad day. it was the two year anniversary of a beloved family members death, something i’m still processing. i was quite weepy and despondent, and it was just difficult. yearly dates like these have a certain way of magnifying grief that i didn’t remember i still carry. i’ve had plenty of sad or difficult days this month, and especially last month. but today i had a really, really great day. it’s so strange how quick and hugely the mood of one day can vary to the mood of the next day. each day is different. it’s a truth i value so highly, a truth that has kept me going during those awful days. i live for sweet sunny days, but not everyday is that. that’s okay. good and bad days are both necessary for different reasons. i’ve learnt and grown a lot from bad days, and i’ve learnt and grown a lot from good days. how has your day been today ? •
