  • ↟ KULNING & STONE SCULPTURES ↟

It is so fun that all the farmers around here are letting their cows out now. I like to communicate with the cows by something we call kulning. Kulning is a sort of high pitch hearding call and the cows love it. A lower and more nasal pitch is used to call goats and sheep. I like that sound more. It is more primitive and raw. Also it fits my voice that has something a bit raspy in it.

So the slow living here on the highlands is moving forward. And it all made me thinking. Do you also noticed that slow living is becoming more and more popular? It is like people wants to go back to basic and get away from all the stress the modern world is causing. Maybe slow living will be the next cultural movement?

This week I’ve concentrated a lot on doing all the things good for my mind and body, I’ve taken time out of social media and taken full advantage of the beautiful places around me!
The weather has been amazing this week so I’ve spent a lot of time outside including dog walks, beach trips, riding my horse and sunbathing. I’ve laughed a lot and seen so many beautiful places🤩

  • For day 10 of the May Mindfulness Challenge I’m sharing three mindful breathing techniques to help bring us into the present moment, create more calm and reduce anxiety. Remember you can come back to these any time you feel overwhelmed. The breath is our natural stress reliever. One conscious breath has the power to send a clear message to our nervous system, that “it’s okay”. We often don’t have control over our outer world, but we always have the ability to bring ourselves into the present moment by focusing on our breath. We are practicing #Happyliving #TIP78 of the 10 days of HAPPINESS!…… Today is about GRATITUDE. 💗Positive emotions - like joy, gratitude, contentment, inspiration, and pride - are not just great at the time.

Recent research shows that regularly experiencing them creates an 'upward spiral', helping to build our resources.
So, although we need to be realistic about life's ups and downs, it helps to focus on the good aspects of any situation - the glass half full rather than the glass half empty.
Example: feeling joy from seeing beautiful trees in the park can put us in a positive frame of mind and make us more enthusiastic about an opportunity that comes our way.

And over time, positive emotions help us to build the resources that lead to happier lives, such as making long-lasting friends, knowledge, better problem solving, and even better health.

Ich habe mir oft die Frage gestellt, warum wir/ich das tue?🧐 Warum es mir manchmal so schwer fällt einfach nur ich selbst zu sein🤷🏼‍♀️ Und der Hauptgrund sind Ängste: - die Angst, abgelehnt zu werden
- die Angst, andere zu verletzen
- die Angst, andere zu enttäuschen
- die Angst, mich lächerlich zu machen

Und was haben all die Ängste gemeinsam?
Richtig, du GLAUBST, dass andere ein bestimmtes Verhalten von dir erwarten und versuchst diesen Erwartungen gerecht zu werden, weil du DENKST, dass du sonst nicht mehr geliebt oder anerkannt wirst.

Ziemlich verzwickt das Ganze, denn das Problem an unseren Masken ist:

Du wirst unglücklich, wenn du nicht du Selbst bist.

Denn unsere wahre Persönlichkeit und innere Essenz kann sich nicht entfalten, weil wir unsere wahre Persönlichkeit verstecken.

Daher möchte ich dir heute ans Herz legen - finde heraus, wer du eigentlich bist
- entscheide dich deine Masken abzulegen
- mach dir dein Leben nicht unnötig schwer
- trau dich aus deiner Komfortzone
- höre auf dich mit anderen zu vergleichen
- befreie dich von deiner emotionalen Abhängigkeit
- lasse los, was du nicht mehr brauchst
- höre auf andere Imponieren zu wollen

Und ein absolut wichtiger Schlüssel auf dem Weg zur Authentizität!

  • It might appear a little extravagant but the best purchase I have made recently was the Peloton bike. 
Taking account of what we would pay to go to the gym it is a break even decision. However, it became the best purchase of the decade because of lockdown. 
Gyms are shut, I can only go out for 1 exercise a day, etc… With the stationary bike, all you have to do is put your gym clothes on, select a class and go! It has been keeping me sane for the last few months. 
What would you say has been the best thing you bought so far this year?

8. Learn something new!! With all the amazing resources out there online, it’s now your time to learn all those things you’ve been putting off. Candle-making, French, macrame, painting??- get cracking! 🎨

My mind and body are finally surrendering. Surrendering to the changes of environment, people, way of living.. from working and studying all the time.. recovering from the loss of my dad.. Surrendering to the weather, the culture, to needing my friends and family, to not studying and working.. to what’s going on in the world.

I am grateful for the turbulence. For it is teaching me non resistance. To notice the shifts in my body and mind. To welcome them, because it is a natural reaction since the body and mind have to adjust to the new balance. I don’t have to fear it or hold on to the previous balance. I simply can welcome it (which is not so simple, but such a rewarding practice) and observe. So I can learn to trust the flow. •
The less I resist change the more I open my heart for love and all possibilities. The more I learn to read my body and mind the more easy I can navigate and find direction, follow the path that resonates with my soul. •
I am excited for the journey! I feel like I am on holiday now. I have no where to rush too, nothing to become and no where to be.. except just HERE NOW. Every day I breathe in more trust and feel more ease. It feels calm and free and somehow it simultaneously feels like it’s the beginning of my biggest adventure yet. Curiously I will let it unfold. Let’s cruise on these waves of life!

((Navigating the corners of this universe I’m sure is better together ;) Also I don’t have my fricking drivers license. But even if I had, it’s fun to let somebody take you on a spin and discover paths unknown! Metaphorically and literally speaking (as always ha)))

Mijn favoriete ontbijtje is toch wel deze 🥰 Havermoutpap met kwark 🥣 Ik heb het recept al eens gedeeld, maar voor de luie mensen onder ons die geen zin hebben om te zoeken (snap ik!) zal ik hem nog eens delen. .

Voor 1 kommetje heb je nodig:
- 75 ml water
- 75 ml ongezoete kokosmelk
- 40 gr havermout
- 100 gr kwark
- 3 gr vanille-eiwitpoeder
- 10 gram walnoten
- halve banaan
- 5 druiven of andere topping naar keuze
- 2 el kaneel

Ik maak eerst havermoutpap op basis van kokosmelk en water, daar doe ik wat kaneel door en prak ik een halve banaan door. Vervolgens mix ik kwark met eitwitpoeder. Dan gooi ik de kwark en havermoutpap bij elkaar en top ik het af met verschillende toppings. Deze keer had ik walnoten met stukjes druif gebruikt. Dan heb je een heerlijk vullend ontbijtje met weinig suikers en veel eiwitten!

Laat mij het even weten als je het hebt gemaakt door mij te taggen in je bericht. Zou ik heeel leuk vinden! Fijne dag lieve mensen 😘

It’s important to reconnect with who you really are as a person and to come to know the glory that rests within you. Sure, you are busy. But you must find the time to be silent on a regular basis.

Saying that you don’t have enough time to be silent is like saying you are too busy driving to stop for gas.
