  • Crazy to think that three months ago on a Friday morning I was in labor... Faced with another sleepless night, though this time I got to spend it with our baby and not in agonizing pain. Baby girl hasn’t found her rhythm of sleeping through the night yet, which makes early mornings rough — but I can usually motivate myself to get out the door. The first mile or so feel hard, especially today (there are the mind games: you should be sleeping, or home to get the babes when they wake up, or you should be faster and feel stronger); I always try to give myself 15-20 minutes of grace on the run, if I still feel the mental demons or am tired I call it and turn around, but usually by that point my my mind becomes stronger than the weakness I feel in my legs and it’s already decided how far it wanted to run. Today, we took the first 20 easy... and since I was dragging I decided to throw in a 20 min tempo! It was exactly the challenge I needed in 72 degrees, 70% humidity and a 94 dew point. To my surprise I ran close to what I wanted and my faster mile PP to date, ended with some easy miles and forgetting myself for a bit. I can’t explain this feeling, IYKYK, but it keeps me going — race or no race, running often provides clarity to me and clears my mind and opens it up for so much possibility... and sometimes that means, exploring mud puddles and eating Pb&J outside in the rain.
Keeping running friends. Stay happy. Cheers to Friday! 🥂

  • Luckily one of us has no idea there is a global pandemic going on. Sad to say but he’s actually gotten used to masks when we are outside in the city. I try to make it fun for him and play peak-a-boo with my nose & mouth when no ones around. He giggles and everything seems almost normal for a moment 🙏🏽 How are my city mamas doing? Are you taking walks or staying inside? Would love to hear how everybody’s handling ❤️ #HealthyAlibi

  • Are you sleeping after baby?
Having good and have enough SLEEP is key in postpartum recovery.
When you lack sleep it heightens your stresses, your anxiety’s, your depression is impacted. Delirium sets in and it’s been days since you’ve actually slept. You aren’t giving your body a chance to heal and process.
Let’s prioritize sleep.
Do you have someone that can help you with other children while you sleep?
What does your bottle feeding or breastfeeding schedule look like?
Can your partner help make a bottle and bring you baby so you can stay asleep?
How’s your sleep haven, is it dark is it the right temperature? your environment affects your sleep!

What’s going through your head? Let’s talk about those feelings so you can breathe and deep sleep.
Putting SLEEP at the top of our self care list is hard. But you will feel better and you will do better when you are well rested.

  • I weigh myself every morning.
That might freak people out, but through a mindset certification that I did, I was taught how to use the scale as a TOOL and not hate it like I had in the past.
My body has been fluctuating quite a bit and today I was down to the lowest weight that I have been in a really long time. *happy dance*

I'm always afraid to share this stuff because I am fearful of being shamed since I'm fit.
But I've realized that people are either going to downgrade me or upgrade me + cheer me TF on and those people... those people are my people.
I share in hopes that I inspire someone or post something that resonates with them. & there could be people feeling the same exact way that I do and they need to know that they aren't alone and to share the shit out of their success!
I am feeling lean, proud, and so so sooooo good! 🙌💜🥳

  • That magical moment I got to hold Greyson after I came out of the OR.⠀
⠀
After I posted my birth story I got a lot of DMs asking what caused me to lose so much blood after I gave birth. At the time, I wasn't sure and didn't have much time to process it. And to be honest, I needed some time. Time to process, to sit with my emotions, and to be okay with it before I was able to talk about it. ⠀
⠀
A lot happened after I gave birth, and it all transpired so quickly. It was scary. I just remember my midwife looking pale, a flood of people coming into my room, and me consenting to things I can’t remember. I lost at least half of the total blood in my body and they weren’t sure where it was coming from. They told me that if I had had a home birth I would have died, and if they couldn't stop the bleeding they would have had to remove my uterus. Thankfully I was in good hands, and I came out of the OR and got to hold Greyson. That night I didn't put him down. ⠀
⠀
When I was in the OR they performed a scraping technique to stop the blood loss in my uterus. Apparently once my placenta detached from the uterus there was uncontrolled bleeding that just wouldn’t stop. Finally, the procedure caused the bleeding to stop, but with this procedure, there was also a chance of scar tissue which could mean having trouble conceiving in the future. The thought of this makes me really sad at times, but then I have to remember that it’s not a sure thing. When it comes down to it, I'm so happy to be alive with a beautiful baby boy right now. Hopefully, we’ll be able to grow our little family, but if we can’t, we are so incredibly grateful for what we have 💕

  • As a therapist working primarily with moms, I see how many of us are struggling; comparing ourselves to social media images of mothers seemingly managing this pandemic with ease (i.e. colour-coded schedules, educational activities and, of course, home-baked banana bread). In an effort to get a much-needed reality check on the impossible task set before us, I reached out to some friends and asked them to share their experiences during quarantine.
Head to the bio for their stories to see the real-life messiness, lessons learned, and the reminder that we are not alone in this crazy juggling act.
I hope you find something helpful in their responses!
I'll be sharing more snapshots over the week so stay tuned and share your biggest challenges and insights in the comments below.
Thanks to @meaganawilliamson @shanleesimmons @jwolch @abbyfef @vara_t @torontolisab @ashleyholly @jojomlamb for sharing your real experiences. .

  • Hey mama, you are doing a great job…⁣⁣
⁣⁣
We weren’t meant to BE EVERYTHING to everyone. We weren’t meant to be the perfect Pinterest mom with a new creative craft to fill each moment of the day. We weren’t meant to be working moms, stay at home moms, and teachers all at the same time. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
So today I give you permission to breath. To breath in the fact that you are doing the best job possible. And when our littles nap, I give you permission to do something for you. Not cleaning, cooking, or setting up the next activity….do something that brings you joy. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
You are enough. You are doing enough. You are creating amazing memories for your littles. Breath. ⁣
⁣
And remember to share this with another mama who may need to hear it today ❤️⁣ #momlife #toddlermom #athome #boymom #postpartum #postpartumjourney #busymom #busymomlife #quarantine #quarantinelife #twoyearsold #momstress #momma #mommasboy #mommyandme

  • These cheeks and lips!!🤍 It’s actually hard to comprehend this beautiful, strong, sweet soul has been with us for a MONTH today!✨ Not just because where did the time go?! I feel like we’ve barely gotten the hang out things and it feels like she was still just born a week ago. However, at the same time, it seems like it’s been more than a month because we seriously feel like she’s always been with us. She is what completes us and was always there just not physically, yet.
When we woke up this morning, I looked her straight in her gorgeous, baby-blue eyes and told her “Happy One Month, baby girl!” With just as much excitement as if it was her first birthday. I’ll be honest, celebrating milestones with all my babies has always been a big deal for me - I’m just that type of mom because they mean the world to me. But today, with my last baby, this one does feel different for me; special and bittersweet. I’m really feeling so much light, warmth, and beautiful peace with it being my last “first month” milestone I’ll ever have with one of my babies - my last baby! I’m really basking in each moment and allowing myself to feel joy and some days frustration if I haven’t gotten back into a routine (for my sanity). After all, I’m still human. All she has to do, though, is look at me with her sweet face and all of it is okay. We love you, baby girl!! .

  • For the longest time I struggled to figure out who I was meant to be - what degree should I get, what career would be best to pursue? I started and stopped down multiple different paths always feeling unsure and confused. •
It wasn’t until 7 months ago that I realized the title I had been waiting for all along was “MAMA”. 💕 I have never felt more fulfilled, and I owe it all to you, Mason - for showing me who I was truly meant to be. 🥰

  • Having three kids within 15 months has been a lot for me. People ask me all the time “how is it?” or “how do you handle that?” I usually give them a super vague answer and a funny comment to keep things light. But honestly, when I sit down and think about it, I’m not handling it all that well. Right now I’m dealing with 3 stubborn and defiant toddlers. They’re all getting into the same things, fighting over the same stuff (or me), and testing the same limits over and over and over again. My patience is usually short and I yell more than I’d like. I’m far from a “Pinterest mom” or “Target mom”. Crafts aren’t a thing here and shopping trips are more of a nightmare. It can feel isolating when you’re not like other moms and it kinda feels like I’m lying to myself when I think “you’re doing your best.” Am I though? Could I be better? Do I just suck at this? That’s usually what goes through my mind when I sit next to the tub as the kids play in the bath. I can’t imagine I’m the only one that has those moments though. Motherhood is hard! I wouldn’t trade it for anything, but I’m also not going to act like it’s sunshine and rainbows all day... But my little ray of hope is my oldest. He’ll come up to me with thoughtful eyes, wrap his arms around my neck and ask, “mommy sad? It’s okay mommy. I love you.” Reminding me that maybe I’m not all that bad at this motherhood thing. ❤️

  • Mama has been feeling a little more dehydrated than normal. Each pregnancy is different and this time postpartum I am feeling dry. Like what is up with that?! So I’ve been on the hunt for EVERYTHING hydrating. I just purchased this @laneige_us Cica sleeping mask and tried it for the first time, let me just say it did not disappoint! I can’t wait to see what my skin looks like after I finish. Do you suffer from dry skin? If so, what are your go-to products? Let me know please! 😅

I can’t wait to see what my skin looks like after I finish. Do you suffer from dry skin? If so, what are your go-to products? Let me know please! 😅

  • I didn’t want to workout today.
Evelyn woke up super early and I made the mistake of going back to bed when she laid down for a nap.
I was sitting on the couch, feeding her after she woke up from said nap, thinking - I just want to watch TV today. I never watch TV and I was wanting to.
You know what though, that wouldn’t have blessed me. Sitting on the couch, watching Hoarders wouldn’t have gotten me closer to my goals. I wouldn’t have been any closer to my confidence that I have been working so hard on.
So what did I do?

I made my lifeblood (aka that drink you see me make everyday)

I waited for the tingles while I listened to some PD.
And I pressed play.
The moral of this story?

Sometimes motivation isn’t there. Sometimes you don’t have it at all in a day.
Don’t wait for it!

Sometimes you have to MAKE it.
And the fact that I have a group to support me and keep me accountable is a major helping factor!
Are you feeling a lack of motivation today?
Well sister! Join the club!
No, literally, join the club. We GOT you! •

  • Interview with The Essential Midwife

Using essential oils in pregnancy creates an empowerment that is so valuable. Being able to have solutions that are timely and effective is essential.

What is your birth philosophy?
Homebirth is not for every woman. My clients and I are a team. We look at all the choices surrounding pregnancy, labor, and birth, and I support them in whatever they choose through offering education and choices. I am the mother of four daughters, three of whom were born at home. I feel it’s these experiences that have shaped my vision of what women’s healthcare should be. I know first-hand what a difference information and a sense of control can make when having a baby.
Essential oils are all about keeping the body in an environment that optimizes its healing capacity and supports a healthy immune system. This is why using essential oils every day is such a powerful wellness tool.

  • So Ellie decided to wake up at half 4 this morning! I was not impressed at first, but then she went back to sleep at half 5!
.

Rather than just getting straight back into bed, I jumped in the shower and took the opportunity to get ready stress free, and it was delightful!
.
She then got up at half 6, but knowing that getting ready for the day was already done felt amazing and meant i felt way more productive for the rest of the day!
.

Getting ready with a baby is most definitely a chaotic challenge! I will definitely try and do this more often, providing I can drag myself out of bed 😅

  • Hi everybody, My name is Pharaoh and I’m 1 month old today! I know I came a lot sooner than expected but I’m so excited to be here!!
I have many nicknames: Ro Ro, Baby P, Baby love, Mighty Bean, Chipmunk, Chum Chum, Papi.. and so many more! I am very loved!
So far life has been pretty easy, I get lots of food , sleep, and TONS of cuddles. I weigh about 7 1/2 pounds and I love to lift my head and scoot around... I’m becoming a handful already! My Mommy and Daddy work very hard to keep me happy all day and I am so glad to a part of The Hanas! 👑💙💪🏾🥰

  • [Ce soir]

Ce soir c'est difficile. Ce soir je voudrais disparaître et n'être là pour personne. J'aimerais dormir, j'aimerais me reposer.

  • One thing I really love that we’ve picked up since we’ve all been home 24/7 is our little family hikes and our post hike picnics in the back of the van. 🤍
The boys now ask for them all the time and it melts me.
These are sweet little memories that I will cherish and be thankful for forever. Through all the craziness, the frustrations, the really hard situations, at the end of the day we have the beautiful outdoors, we have EACH OTHER, and we have snacks in the back of the van. 😊
Have you picked up anything new+positive through all of this? •

  • I have stretch-marks and so does an estimated 90% of women. Whether through teen growth, weight gain or pregnancy, stretch-marks are normal and come in an array of different shapes and colours.
I was 27 weeks when I found my first cluster of pregnancy stretch marks. They sit on my lower abdomen and you can hardly see them due to my bump - however, I was still initially upset. The reason for being upset was based upon years of media marketing showcasing the “perfect bump” as being stretch mark free.
Some women will struggle with their changing bodies during and after pregnancy as many have been told through the media that their bodies are “ruined” and it is a “shame” if they develop stretch-marks, cellulite etc. It is important for everyone to remember that companies profit off the advertising of a clear bump! We are constantly promoted images that this is the ideal even though 9/10 women will develop stretch marks in their lifetime - so the question is why aren’t they aren’t showing more REALISTIC images?
A stigma has now been created around something which most women have, ultimately leading to many feeling shameful of their bodies.
I class myself as fortunate that I have learnt to embrace my new skin over the last few weeks, primarily on the understanding that I am carrying a child and my body will inevitably change but also with the support of my partner. However, acceptance can take a lot longer for others, so we need to start normalising our “imperfections” as the media likes to call them.
Most pregnant women will be using an oil or cream during their pregnancy - I initially used them to prevent stretch marks although I now use it to connect with my bump which is strongly recommended. I also want to point out wanting to prevent stretch marks is not a bad thing either, you should do what makes you feel comfortable. However, it is important to remember a product that may have prevented one pregnant lady from developing stretch marks may not do the same for others. Additionally, that particular product may not have had an affect at all - the lady just may not have developed stretch marks and you should not feel ashamed if that product does not work for you!

  • Being a mom in school can be a challenge, but so many moms are taking the realm of higher education by storm. Women continue to lead the nation in obtaining college degrees, many of them do so as wives, moms, and full-time employees. Despite the everyday chaos of work and parenting, moms are taking classes online or trucking to a traditional classroom two to three times a week. Year after year they make the sacrifice and then…they graduate.⠀
⠀
Congratulations to all the 2020 grads but a huge congrats to you moms that worked, cared for children+loved ones and still finished, AND Cheers to the ones that are still on the path to get their degree! You are amazing! 💛👩🏼‍🎓🤰🏽🤱🏻 TAG A MAMA GRADUATE DOWN BELOW! ⠀

Every time I needed help off the couch, help with AG, or just a shoulder to cry on (because my hormones were insane) you were always there! Thank you for loving me the way you do❤️🙏🏼 I’m blessed by you and this beautiful sunset✨
