The last 24hrs have been an emotional roller coaster for me. Today I learned a Black transman, by the of name Tony McDade, was killed by Police (I believe this occurred on the 25th of May). Violence against Black men can, will and DOES include violence against Black transmen. Please do not just share this story, acknowledge that Black/POC transmen are often left out of practically EVERY conversation that involves trauma in the Black community but also in the QUEER+ community at large, and strive to change that narrative. There isn’t enough inclusion of our voices, bodies or our experiences.
.
.
.
January 1st of 2020, the first trans person killed in the United States was a White transman, Dustin Parker, who was killed while working as a taxi cab driver McAlester, Oklahoma. (I haven’t heard many folks/activists/advocates in community talking about him either.) .
.
.
As trans masculine visibility increases in media/tv/entertainment, so will violence against our bodies. Let’s be clear though, trans masculine communities have been impacted by violence/trauma for years. Unfortunately, we have been misgendered, so documentation of these experiences typically goes unnoticed (female assignment at birth speaks this happening in a NUMBER of ways).

Trans people have the misfortune of being killed twice when they are murdered: physically when they are taken away due to violence and again when their identity is erased through misgendering.
Tony McDade was murdered by police this week and misgendered in nearly every report.
This has to end.

As trans masculine visibility increases in media/tv/entertainment, so will violence against our bodies. Let’s be clear though, trans masculine communities have been impacted by violence/trauma for years. Unfortunately, we have been misgendered, so documentation of these experiences typically goes unnoticed (female assignment at birth speaks this happening in a NUMBER of ways).”

There isn’t enough inclusion of our voices, bodies or our experiences.

.
January 1st of 2020, the first trans person killed in the United States was a White transman, Dustin Parker, who was killed while working as a taxi cab driver McAlester, Oklahoma. (I haven’t heard many folks/activists/advocates in community talking about him either.) .

  • Who TF was I three years ago? 👀
Also, the last comparison of the month.
#tbt

Once you start living authentically life seems to go by pretty fast. It's crazy to know that me on the left was on a whole diff mindset. Within the years I've completed so many life quests thats made me a better me. Once I started putting effort in my goals and dreams everything seems to just fall into place.
Please, don't give up on yourself!

If you read this far, I hope you're having a good day.

  • I want to share a couple of quotes from @allyhenny (whom you should all go follow for additional words of wisdom)... “George Floyd was lynched by the state. It was a state sanction lynching. It was a murder. When you watch that video, you are watching a lynching. What you are doing right now is what you would’ve done when Emmet Till was lynched. You are doing what you would’ve done when the hundreds of people (that we know of) were lynched. Are you happy with what you’re doing?” In another post, she continues, “Honestly y’all, I don’t want your apologies and white tears over George Floyd. I appreciate the sentiment. I really do. Weep with those who are weeping and all of that. I appreciate the desire for lament. But a lot of us are past the stage or lament. My question for people of whiteness is this: When are you going to see the white folks you know's knee on George Floyd’s neck? When are you going to see your uncle’s knee? Your cousin’s knee? Your pastor’s knee? Your spouse’s knee? Your kid’s knee? YOUR OWN knee? Because I can guarantee that black people are seeing our loved ones in George. When will you see your own complicity? When will you break the code of white solidarity? Are you willing to lose friends? Not communicate with family? Get kicked out of your church? Lose your job? When are you going to see that you have skin in the game? Your knee is on my neck and I can’t breathe. What are you going to do? Will you deflect and say that you're not "one of those kinds of people," when you are a single incident from being exactly one of those people. Will you ignore people like me? Will you weaponize your black and brown loved ones against people like me? Will you get defensive? Or will you listen to the truth?”

  • #throwback to a photo taken before #topsurgery. it’s now been six months since i underwent surgery and i am all physically healed up. it’s been a journey getting mentally used to my new body. i still sometimes have sudden flashes of grief, when i clutch my chest and feel like the flesh that was once there still is. i sometimes forget its gone. i have found myself suddenly drowning in loss, feeling for what once was. i usually feel happy and at peace about having had the surgery. but what no one tells you is that for some, these emotions of grief and loss still surface. removing a part of yourself, even a part that brought you pain, is not an easy process. ⁣

Sono mille volte più conteto di quando ero in quinto liceo (non ci tornerei neanche morto) e stranamente dopo tutti questi anni mi sembra di essere sempre stato così.

  • One of the many things I love about @egnovoa is that he enjoys new experiences and he’ll push himself to try new things. This whole weekend was so magical... literally! We went to @thecauldronnyc for Valentine’s Dinner, he let me take him to an aerial silks class (and he did so well!), we did some more apartment hunting... and spent a lot of quality time inside. ♥️ I really don’t know if I can express how special he is to me.
