When you're pressed for time, or just eager to start your workout, it can be tempting to skip a warm-up. I do it all the time!
But warming up before you #exercise has very real physiological, and often psychological, benefits.

Warming up is a way of preparing your body for exercise; this serves two major purposes—to enhance performance, which includes more oxygen to your #muscles and prevents injury (<-- specially for #runners and #weight lifters) .

You can warm-up for 5 to 10 minutes depending on the intesity and duration of your activity. For exercises that don't include a lot of aerobic activity - such as #yoga or #pilates - small movements, such as neck rolls, and cat-cow sequences will help the loosen the spine and other joints in preparation for the more demanding motions to follow. For a #weightlifting workout, the range of motion exercises, such as shoulder rolls and knee lifts, work well. And for runners, walking or jogging till you reach your desired pace gets the blood flowing to your legs more efficiently!

Even if you're not a #competitive athlete, it can help to take a moment or two to get in "the zone," by closing your eyes and taking a deep breath before you start your warm-up and then proceed to your #workout and cool-down.

Ok I’m about to get real personal with y’all.. It’s not easy for me to do, but honestly if I can uplift, inspire just one person it’s totally worth it. I’m gonna talk about WEIGHT. Fat vs. muscle. I’m 5’3” and I weigh.....👀

153 pounds. BUT I’m a size FOUR. I have a very small framed body. I remember weighing 120 and being a size 4. So how does this make sense?!? Well I weight lift. I’ve been doing that off and on for a couple years. I’ve built a lot of muscle. Now muscle and fat. A pound of muscle is the same as 1 pound of fat. BUT muscle is more dense so it takes up a lot less space. So you may weigh a lot more than someone but you may also look a lot more FIT. That’s where I am right now.. but I’m saying all of this because I used/still sometimes am obsessed with the scale. The scale does NOT represent what you look like. Everyone is built differently!!! Our frame, age, muscle.. it’s all factors that play into this. So if you are short like me PLEASE do not think you have to be 115. Honestly if I weighed 115 right now I would look sick!! I’m not meant for that weight anymore. When I was 14 sure but not at 33. And I’m completely fine with that! I’m a grown woman with curves and sass. Be YOU beautiful!! Throw the scale OUT. 🌸
