Pressing pause and taking a stand. To all of my black brothers and sisters I love you. The Bible says to mourn with those who mourn. I am mourning with you. I want to be a part of change. I want to learn how to do better, be better. Teach my children. Use my voice. There’s so much that I feel like I don’t know, but one thing I do know is that it starts with His LOVE and empathy. I am praying to the God who created us ALL to show us the way.
We are ALL created in the image of God, and when He made us He didn’t just say it was good, He said it was VERY GOOD. He also said that we are to love our neighbor as ourself. “So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.” Genesis 1:27 NIV “God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning—the sixth day.” Genesis 1:31 NIV “honor your father and mother,’ and ‘love your neighbor as yourself.’ ” Matthew 19:19 NIV #Repost @ladyantebellum ・・・ We can’t speak to how it feels to be the target of racism in America, but we can see the pain, the suffering and the toll it continues to take. Our hope is that we all take the time to listen, educate ourselves, have difficult conversations and make changes through our own actions. As parents, it breaks our hearts knowing our children are living in a world where this level of hate exists, but we will raise them to lead with love, respect, compassion and a serving heart. We pray for peace and the wisdom to do just that.
My little greenhouse gal. 🌿💚
I’ve recently relearned how to get myself ready for all of our performances and tv appearances. The first few times I was super self-conscious and felt insecure...especially with my hair(if I’m being honest I don’t LOVE it in this pic bc it’s been a BATTLE to get it to grow back halfway normal after all of my babies). This is one of the last things I thought quarantine would help give me confidence in...ha! (And I MISS YOU @ohmane SO much!!) What’s something that this season has helped you learn/get to feel more confident in yourself and your abilities? Please share. 💗💗💗
@anniefdowns is not only one of my dearest friends, but she has a way of expressing the most heartfelt feelings about things in this world that make me feel like she stepped inside my head and heart. Today I’ve been heartbroken and sick to my stomach...please read this post and please pray for George Floyd’s family as they are grieving in a way I could never imagine. Lord, PLEASE be near and help us. ・・・ Tonight as I read to thousands of little eyes and ears for the #miniBFFBookClub, my mind was spinning. The main good guy character in the book? A policeman named Michael. ..... #miniBFFs of many different skin tones gather together to hear me read. How do I lead in this moment on this exact night? How do I talk about policemen four minutes after reading posts from @stewartdantec and @josaxton and @bethmoorelpm and many others about another black man, George Floyd, murdered by policemen? ..... I take every leadership role in my life very seriously, but those #miniBFFs? What I say to them matters. So I’ll say the same thing to you that I said to those children: good policemen are some of the best people. Honoring the police who are honorable matters. And black lives matter. Calling the truth the truth matters. Standing up for justice matters. ..... I thank God for the policemen and women, some I know and love here in Nashville, who protect, honor, and serve our nation. And I will not be quiet about the racial injustice that my black neighbors and friends, some I know and love here in Nashville, have to face daily. DAILY. ..... I feel sad all the way in my bones. I can’t even imagine what my black brothers and sisters feel. Or what policemen feel. Or what you are feeling. But these are days for grieving. The murder of George Floyd is grievous and wrong. ..... Tonight my prayers are with his family, with my black friends who are exhausted and scared, and with all my friends parenting the next generation. I’m right here with you, reading to my #miniBFFs once a week, hoping it does a little to make your parenting load a bit lighter. As we raise them, let’s make them different than us- let’s raise them to be better than this.
Be still my ❤️
Date Night No. 3 with sweet Emory(left over Luau decor as the bow in her hair)...one of my favorite tiny details of these date nights is that @chrisetyrrell made sure to buy 3 different dress shirts to wear under his suit. I’m currently hearing the echo of her giggles coming down the stairs and it’s the sweetest sound. 🥰
We caught a lizard(I think!) and named it Lizzie McGuire before we released it back into the wild of our backyard. 🤣💙 Happy #EarthDay everybody! Let’s say a prayer of thanks to God for this beautiful place we call home. Let’s also make sure we take good care of it. 😘
Happy Birthday to my incredible Dad. Love you and so thankful for your silliness and sense of humor-I think I get that from you. 😂🌺💗
