  • I was asked to contribute a photo and short essay for the British Journal of Photography on the theme Magic. Some say we are souls visiting our bodies for a borrowed amount of time. The skin is the largest organ of our body, as it degenerates, it becomes a map or an archive that can lead us to a better understanding of ourselves. In the name of survival, this pandemic has given us little to no option other than to bury away our instinct to physically connect with another. We are living a moment in time where connecting with another body feels like the magical drug that will cure all our woes. Reflecting on the theme of ‘Magic’, words that come to mind are ‘potential’ and ‘inexplicable’. This photograph, “Jermaine and Marquet In the Rubble”, is from my series OTRAMITAD, 2016. My interest with this series was to explore solidarity and dependency between these two subjects bound by the same conditions. Mutually dependent, their bodies achieve an organic whole as they strive to become one.” To check out other beautiful contributions by other photographers-check out the @bjp1854 Special Thank You to @izaradz 💙 @jamsvy Styled @marquetklee #bjp1854 #luisalbertorodriguezphotography

  • I just want to take a minute to say thank you to Lewis and Sarah from @jointsloose for the work we did together on my book People of the Mud. I couldn’t have asked for a better team to have gone on this ride with. I’m so proud of what we created together! So much love and care was put into the book from every angle. It’s been an incredible experience for which I am truly grateful. Unfortunately, the book launched at the worst possible time EVER! However, I look forward to the day we can all be touchy again and this fucking disastrous pandemic is over. Hopefully we can continue where we all left off. Special shout out to Angel, Julia and @futuresphotography for hosting me last year at @photoireland and Sarah for her printing. Last but certainly not least to Rosie and Frank at @cowhousestudios studios who were the nest where the work was created. #luisalbertorodriguezphotography #loosejoints #peopleofthemud #futures #photoireland #cowhousestudios
